A fabulous pair of antique Victorian Suffragette drop earrings C. 1900, adorned with a large violet Amethyst, two beautiful green Peridot droppers and three lovely white Pearls.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The fancy galleries are all 15ct Yellow Gold and fitted with shepherd hook wires.
